In addition to our wonderful new cafe, The Juice Factory…designed to deliver options for more healthy choices to the Community, yes they have the green stuff….detox this and detox that…we have a stellar line-up of author signings and events this months.

I am especially pleased to welcome Broadway juggernaut Fela! to Harlem and I am especially, honored, chuffed and humbled to welcome back my dear friend and world renowned author Terry McMillan.

For six years our customers have asked for the Williams sisters to come to Hue-Man so I am beyond excited for many reasons to bring Venus Williams to Harlem. Her presence at Hue-Man will mean much to our young people who will not only be with the winner of all winners but will come to appreciate what it takes to win….

You’ll agree with me once you check out the line-up, that September at Hue-Man Rocks!

Sweet Hands: Island Cooking from Trinidad & Tobago

Ramin Ganeshran

Culture is defined by foods. The Caribbean nation of Trinidad & Tobago is more widely known as a vacation destination than for its cuisine. A British colony from 1779 until 1962, the island saw a redefinition and meshing of cultures as East Indian and Chinese indentured servants came to work in the sugar plantations alongside African slaves. Trinidadian food is marked by the blending of these cultures. As such, curry, Indian breads, callaloo (a soup of West African origin), and fried rice are all among the national dishes. Ramin Ganeshram was born in New York City of a Trinidadian father and Iranian mother. She has been a journalist for 13 years and has written about food for numerous food magazines.
