Harlem Talk Radio is honored to have the U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and Governor David Paterson

“The Race to the Top program marks a new federal partnership in education reform with states, districts and unions to accelerate change and boost achievement. Yet the program is also a competition through which states can increase or decrease their odds of winning federal support. For example, states that limit alternative routes to certification for teachers and principals, or cap the number of charter schools, will be at a competitive disadvantage. And states that explicitly prohibit linking data on achievement or student growth to principal and teacher evaluations will be ineligible for reform dollars until they change their laws.”

Secretary of Education Arne Duncan talks with Simone Perry host and guest co-host Laura Vural, Director of Education for Harlem Children Zone on the Race to the top fund.  The $4.35 billion dollar Race to the Top program that is available is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the federal government to create incentives for far-reaching improvement in our nation’s schools.

In this informative interview Mr. Duncan explains the purpose and qualifications to the HarlemTalkRadio.com listeners. As a special guest Governor David Paterson weigh in on his views on charter schools and the state of educations on the Harlem’s across America.

How impressive to have both US Arne Duncan and Gov Paterson on Harlem Talk Radio. Can you get Ms. Vural back on to talk more on education and charter school programs at the Harlem Children School.

Better yet are you going to have Geoffrey Canada and Ms. Vural on your show.

    thnx

Can we be honest for a minute? Are we talking about educating ourselves in the same slave mentalities whether K-12 or PhD or are we talking about educating ourselves in Pan-African and European truths? A slave with a degree is still an enslaved slave with a degree!!
