



Harlem Talk Radio continued its series on Education Awareness with an insightful discussion with Guy Lamolinara, Director of Communications for The Center for the Book. Robin Adelson, Executive Director of the Children’s Book Council, joined the discussion in the second half of the show. This article is actually an essay; one that demonstrates some basic principles in writing an effective essay in college. Most college students make it through their academic careers without much instruction on the subject of rhetoric. After receiving a degree in the subject of rhetoric, the author of this essay shares some very basic principles of writing essays that intends to take every student’s writing skills to the next level. Simultaneously explaining and demonstrating some fundamental aspects of rhetoric, this essay walks beginners through Aristotle’s idea of what it means to be persuasive in writing an essay- a must for college students.

A great many number of people will readily admit that one of their greatest frustrations in life is either not being able to complete their collegiate education, or pursue a post-graduate study or the equivalent thereof. This is most true with professionals who simply cannot spare any of their remaining time to further or higher learning.

In order to feel motivated for their work, pupils must have the opportunity of seeing it produce concrete results. They must have immediate and clearly defined interim objectives to work for. For this reason, lessons must not lapse into a succession of exercises or collections of material; instead there must be clear objectives which teacher and pupils have tried to agree on for a series of lessons.


Far too many American Students get freaked out when it comes to higher mathematics, or advanced placement classes in High School. Interestingly enough, Chinese students do not seem to have the same problems. Some students assume that the Chinese are just smarter than Americans, but that clearly is not so.
